It was goodbye tapes and now for the flash memory

This new technology called the ReRAM also referred as the memristor is the next big thing. The fundamental component of this technology is silicon oxide base and it tracks the change in resistance which is done by sending variable currents [Kind of simple language for electrical engineers,if not do pardon me ;-) ] known as resistive RAM.  ReRAM technology happens to use 1/1000th of the energy to store data and has staggering data transfer speed nearly 100 times faster than a standard flash drive.ReRAM also has better memory density which means it can be integrated into a pen drive, so one can expect a terabyte in his/her cell phone that is if the phone supports such an enormous data. Now that is what I call storage.

The inventor or discoverer or scientist behind this technology is Adnan Mehonic of University College of London who was handling Silicon Oxide to produce LED during one of his research which accidentally lead to an unstable material that could be controlled with electric pulses just similar to transistors but could store the energy for ever. This could be an opeing for a new dimension in the computing industry. All ready HP,Sandisk and a plethora of memory chip manufacturers are working on this technology.I can't imagine the change this technology is going to bring about.
