BLOOM ENERGY - A big invention of the decade

K.R Sridhar a scientist working with the NASA had developed a process by which humans can sustain a life in Mars.Well Mars is not a planet where gas stations have popped up every 50 miles and has fresh air to breath so Dr.K.R Sridhar had developed a device that would produce fuel and oxygen on supply of electricity. That was indeed an ingenious plan to draw air and fuel but the mission to Mars was dropped by the year 2001 and thus was this research.

The end of the Mars project made them realize that this process could have a great impact on the Earth due to the insufficient and inefficient power sources available. The reverse of that process provides clean energy.Who could imagine that a small amount of fuel and air could produce energy. This could be the end to the age old turbines. Now that is some good news

Lets have a look under the hood

Every Bloom Energy server has a fundamental component which in scientific terms are called the solid oxide fuel technology, and by the way this solid oxide technology is going to take over the energy business in another 10 years or less.

So coming back each cube has the capacity to produce 25Watts and I being an electrical engineer,am surprised by that ratio,25watts is enough to light up your bulb.So 10 of these joined

together which could be the size of a car battery will suffice an average house power supply.Too good to believe

Glad news is that one module or server as they call costs $700,000 for a 100KW of power generation.Average power users don't get a chance to use it till date but a new service of sourcing power to individual houses is available now.Google,Coco cola,eBay and Walmart were the very first customers to Bloom Inc probably a year back.
